The blades ofthe fan are of steel, and are guaranteed against snow and ice fortwo years. As in the plows using single fans, the snow is pickedup and thrown out of the top of the machine in either directiondesired, and is spread evenly over the adjoining ground. Theuse of the plow dispenses entirely with the employment of brooms, and the plow can clear drifts as deep as 10 ft. and of any length. The plow is double ended; that is, there are fans at each end, and it can be run in either direction. The fans are not drivenfrom the car axles, but by separate motors, which are usuallysecured by taking them off the summer equipment. The methodof connecting the motors with the fan shafts is to use shafts withclutch couplings extended through the plow. The motors can thenbe connected to run the cutters at either end.
