Penlee Life Boat Disaster pictures taken 20th December 1981. The Penlee life boat was launched from the Cornish village of Mousehole at exactly 20:12 on Saturday night (19th) after the freighter Union Star sent out distress call. At 21:22 coxswain Trevelyan Richards radioed that he had managed to get four people aboard. Then there was silence. All hope has now been abandoned for the lifeboatmen and the eight people from the freighter. The Union Star on its maiden voyage lays capsized and shattered at the foot of cliffs at Tater Du just along the coast from Mousehole. Stock Photo

Hirohito, the Shōwa Emperor (April 29, 1901 – January 7, 1989), was the 124th emperor of Japan according to the traditional order, reigning from December 25, 1926, until his death in 1989. Although better known outside of Japan by his personal name Hirohito, in Japan he is now referred to exclusively by his posthumous name Emperor Shōwa. The river begins in the Alps and flows southeast for 220 kilometres (140 mi) into the Adriatic Sea near the city of Venice in northern Italy. The Austro-Hungarian army, supported by German units, tried to bring about the final collapse of Italy. Both offensives were repulsed, marking a turning point in World War I on the Italian front.
