Milvus milvus, Red Kite species is a magnificently beautiful bird of prey in flight, and has reddish brown plumage,a white head and striking deeply forked tail. As a species the Red Kite was previously near extinct through human persecution and was once regarded as a pest. It was saved from near extinction via a worldwide national conservation drive and today the red kite population continues to grow and there are now approximately more than two thousand birds.
