A old portrait of Gall Hunkpapa, ( 1840– 1894) Sioux Indian Warrior Chief. Known in his own Lakota language as Phizí. He fought in the wars against the war against the United States including in the position of beingone of the commanders in the Battle of Little Bighorn.He is credited with Crazy Horse of defining native Indian tribes strategies in that battle when he sensed that Custer would try to attempt a two pronged attack . In late 1876, many of the Hunkpapa bands crossed over the border into Canada but back to the United States in 1880 and surrendered.
