An ancient illa (or statue) of an Ekeko (an Aymara god of abundance) is paraded through the streets of La Paz to celebrate its first appearance at the Alasitas festival, which starts today in La Paz. The statue is around 2000 years old and was made by the Pucara culture. It was taken from the archaeological site of Tiwanaku to Switzerland in 1858, and returned to Bolivia by the Berne History Museum in November 2014.
