Dom Joao de Castro, also called Castro Forte ('Strong Castle'), was a Portuguese nobleman who served as the fourth viceroy of Portuguese India. He travelled to various places for many years, from Tangier to Suez and the Horn of Africa, before eventually being sent to India to become the new viceroy. He died there and was initially buried at Goa before being exhumed and transported back to Benfica, Portugal.
