The early days of moving pictures saw films shown by travelling fairground showman in portable booths, as well as at Variety or Vaudeville theatres. A poster infront of the stage says, 'Groves Bros Bioscope Show, The First Public Film in Great Britain', 'The Great Train Robbery', while another says, '60 Years of Movies'. The Great Train Robbery was a 1903 American silent film, 12 mins long, which was a major commerical success at the time.
