29 July 2020, Rhineland-Palatinate, Spangdahlem: An F-16 fighter aircraft flies over the runway of the US military airport. The US government plans to reduce the number of soldiers permanently stationed in Germany by one third. A good half of the approximately 12,000 affected soldiers are to be brought back to the USA, and another 5,600 are to be transferred to other NATO countries.
