5th February 2021 Ettrick Yarn Dyers, Selkirk Scottish Borders, Scotland. Scotland, business, textiles The textiles industry has been hit hard by the coronavirus Covid 19 pandemic with may businesses across having to furlough staff. Images shows workers at Ettrick Yarn Dyers, who are back to full staffing levels and busy with dying orders. Ettrick Yarn Dyers was founded in 2000 to continue a modern package dyeing unit operated by Laidlaw & Fairgrieve, a well-known company which operated in the Scottish Borders. The objective was to retain the expertise of the personnel, which is one of the most experienced dyeing teams in the Scottish Textiles industry. The Company continues to occupy the same dyeworks within the Selkirk site and has undertaken an extensive upgrading programme since becoming independent. The customer base was initially localised within the Scottish Borders but has since expanded to include customers throughout the U.K., Ireland and Europe. The dyeing knowledge and experience of Ettrick Yarn Dyers team allows them to offer a dyeing service for all qualities and counts of yarn. These qualities include wool, wool nylon blends, worsted, silk linen, silk polymide, 100%silk, cotton, acrylic, acrylic blends and cashmere. All counts can be dyed from very fine yarns to much heavier ones such as those used in carpets and tapestries. Photo Phil Wilkinson / Alamy Live News
