A large 500 years old ship wreck is excavated at a building site near Koege, Denmark. The large wood piece at left side is the ships bow. Archaeologist at the local Museum of South-East Denmark had an assumption that something interesting could be buried down in the sand where a construction company should dig for an underground garage facility (photo – background) at a new housing complex between Koege city and the sea, which is some 250 meter away. Archaeologist monitored the work when they saw that some broad and long planks suddenly were exposed. The site was closed down and the archaeologist took over. Great was their surprise as they realized that the find probably represented the largest clinker built ship ever found in Denmark from this period at the end of the Middle Ages. The ship is expected to be some 7 – 8 meter broad and 18 – 19 meter long. (Photo by Ole Jensen/Alamy)
