Aberystwyth, Wales, UK. 3rd Jan, 2014. Evening on Aberystwyth promenade. Police and Coasguards close the promenade to onlookers. Gale force winds caused rough seas at evening high tide on the mid Wales coast. Huge waves tore at the promenade and sea defences during the morning, causing much damage. People living near the promenade and town centre were advised to evacuate their homes and stay at a local school hall, as flooding was expected at the time of the evening high tide.
