Steam ship 'Deutschland' which was wrecked on the sandbank off the Thames Estuary known as the Kentish Knock during a storm on the night of 6th to 7th December 1875. Among those on board who were lost were five Franciscan nuns, refugees from Germany's anti-Catholic Falk Laws.
