This border crossing, near the Serbian City of Sid, was a major transit point duiring the 2015 Refugees Crisis. Also known as the European migrant crisis, this period saw a rising numbers of people arriving in the European Union, travelling overland through Southeast Europe, to seek asylum, as a results of the wars in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan.
