Boeing P-12J 32-42 (msn 1538, Model 234) built as a P-12E, 32-42 was converted to P-12J, by fitting a Pratt & Whitney SR-1340H supercharged engine and a special bomb sight. The engine was changed once more and re-designated YP-12K after being fitted with a fuel injected SR-1340E engine. After the trials the seven YP-12Ks, including 32-42, reverted to P-12E standard by June 1938. 32-42 crashed on approach to Roswell Airport, NM on 16 September 1938.
