Boer War - A 1900 portrait photograph of the 'Hero of Colenso' . Bugler Dunn (John Francis Dunne) 1898-1950, of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers, the regiment he joined as a boy bugler when aged 14. Wounded at Colenso, South Africa, (15th Dec 1899) he he lost his bugle but so impressed the British public that he was declared a hero .Queen Victoria personally presented him with a silver inscribed replacement bugle at Osborne House.
