More information:

Pierre de Porcaro served in the early part of WW2 and was captured, becoming a prisoner of war for a year. Some time after his release he accepted a risky commission to work as a clandestine minister to French forced labourers in Germany. His identity was eventually betrayed by a fellow Frenchman, and he was arrested and sent to Dachau concentration camp. He died there of typhoid after only a few weeks. This memorial bust is in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, where he worked as a priest.
