13th November 2021 - Shepherds in the Lake District taking advantage of the good weather to gather their Herdwick ewes from the high mountains of Cumbria into the lower ground for "Tupping Time" the annual mating season for the sheep, so the lambs are born in April and May. This gather is off the Cinderdale Common, near Crummock Water, where the sheep are gathered down to Rannerdale Farm. The Herdwick sheep have been "Hefted" to their own part of the fells for generations, with each generation of sheep teaching their own lambs the patch of land that they live on.
