Diwali is celebrated over five days. The second day of Diwali is called Narak Chaturdasi. On this day Lord Krishna riding Garuda (giant eagle) destroyed the demon Narakasur, who had plundered the three worlds kidnapping and imprisoning many young women, and freed the prisoners, Lord Krishna thus made the world free from fear.
