Hardy Nymphseas may be sown '^ either in fall or spring in the shal- low places on the margin of natural ponds, where, if conditions are favor- able, they will germinate and soon become established. Nelumbiums should have a small hole cut through the shell of each seed with a sharp knife. Two inches of water over the soil is sufficient. As soon as the seedlings have made two leaves, put them singly into small pots, and when well-rooted repot into four or five-inch pots, from which size they may be planted into their flowering quarters during May and June.
