The Ice Palace, after a work by Valery Jacoby. The picture imagines the ice palace constructed by Anna Ioannovna, Empress of Russia. It depicts an incident in which the Empress forced a prince to become her jester and married him off to a palace maid. The couple (seen on the left) were forced to spend their wedding night naked in the ice palace. The woman in the yellow dress is the Empress.
