040907-N-0000X-001 Mid-Atlantic Ocean (Sept. 7, 2004) - Current forecast projected path and wind speeds of Hurricane Ivan from Sept 7 to Sept 12. Ivan, a category three hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson hurricane scale, is approximately 45 miles Northeast of Tobago, moving at near 18 MPH. Maximum sustained winds remain near 115 MPH with winds extending outwards up to 70 miles. The storm is expected to gradually turn toward the west-northwest later Tuesday. Forecasters said Ivan is the strongest hurricane to develop at such a low latitude in recorded Atlantic hurricane history. Photo provided by
