1885More information:
A drawing published in 1885: A passenger in a two-wheeled carriage (a chaise) is being pulled up a steep hill by a pair of horses, the driver, or postilion, is gesturing up the hill. Illustration by Maurice Leloir (1851 - 1940) published in Philadelphia in 1885. I have marked it as a cut-out although tehre are shadows and the road, because the background is plain white.
