Afghan men cheer their side's openning goal in a soccer match at the Olympic Stadium in Kabul, Afghanistan between ISAF (the International Security Assistance Force) and Kabul FC. The game was organised by the Football Association, * the MoD and Barclaycard the new sponsors the Premiership. Lawrie McMenemy and former Tottenham Hotspurs player Gary Mabbutt have spent two days in the war torn country coaching both teams. The ISAF side includes soldiers from Great Britain, Italy, Germany and Holland and played in the Olympic Stadium more infamous for the executions held there by the former Taliban regime than its sporting events. The Afghan interim President Hamid Karzai and Britain's Foreign Secretary Jack Straw were due to attended the match but stayed away after the Afghan Minister for Transport was killed at the airport last night.
