More information:

About 50% of the residential refuse deposited for disposal at the City of Tucson's Los Reales Landfill could be recycled, according to spokesperson, Cristina Polsgrove. This includes common items, such as plastic bags and cardboard, which are placed in the street side trash cans, rather than in the street side recycling cans. Other potentially recyclable materials are deposited directly at the landfill by residential haulers. The landfill receives about 500, 000 tons of refuse annually. The site, located in Tucson, Arizona, USA, is designated as a state superfund site by the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality.
