Apsley House, home of the first Duke of Wellington and his descendants, stands in the heart of London at Hyde Park Corner. Wellington is most famous for defeating Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815, but this was only the culmination of a brilliant military career. He was also a politician, becoming Prime Minister in 1828.
