Bisbee, Arizona - Members of the School Sisters of Notre Dame and their supporters plant a cross in Mule Mountains near the spot where the remains of an unidentified migrant were found. Hundreds of migrants from Mexico and Central America have perished in recent years as they tried to evade U.S. Border Patrol checkpoints. More than 400 crosses in the Arizona desert, planted by SSND and other groups, now mark the spots where they died. The cross is decorated with bottle caps found in the desert from water bottles carried by migrants. Credit: Jim West/Alamy Live News
