35mm and medium format photographic film processing equipment made in England by Paterson. The exposed film is fed into the plastic spiral in total darkness, the loaded spiral is placed in the tank and the lid screwed on. Developer and other chemicals are poured through the light-tight opening in order to develop the image, fix and finally wash the processed film.
