More information:

he historical building of Riga Stock Exchange was built on 1852 – 1855 under the leadership of architect Gese based on the plan of G. Von Bosse as a Renaissance style Venetian palazzo. In the early eighties the building was damaged by a fire so it went partially destroyed, including several extensive area of losses in the first floor. The design for reconstruction and restoration of the building located at 6 Doma laukums, Riga was elaborated based on the order of State Stock Company „Valsts nekustamie ipasumi” and provides for adjustment of it to the needs of Museum of Foreign Arts. Due to the fact that the building is national architectural monument and is located in the Historic Centre of Riga (i.e., within the UNSECO World Heritage Site ‚Historic Centre of Riga’) the design was made to make the building accessible to the general public. By changing the function of the building (former Stock Exchange) it has been envisaged to maintain as far as possible the initial layout structure, historic interior or fragments and details thereof as well as the historic appearance of the building. In May 2008, the architectural conservation company RE&RE Ltd was uncharged of the conservation of the entire building.Restoration works will end in Year 2011.
