On a sand dune at Capbreton (Landes - France): a recent planting of beach grasses (Ammophila arenaria) plus using of a mechanical fixation technique by branches, in order to help keep the sand in place. Used for the stabilization of movable sand dunes, beach grasses can achieve their purpose by means of their rhizomes, their runners and their vertical adventitious roots which grow deeply in the sand in search of the least humidity (sometimes down to 32.8 feet).
