The Hetch Hetchy Reservoir is formed by the O'Shaughnessy Dam which was finished in 1923. From the beginning and continuing to this day there is controversy over the dam. An organization called "Restore Hetch Hetchy" is dedicated to removing the dam and restoring the valley to it's original state. The Hetch Hetchy reservoir is supplied by the Tuolumne River and feeds the Hetch Hetchy Aqueduct which supplies water to San Francisco and other Bay Area municipalities.
