Man on Orange Hill looks over the dead city of St. Pierre, and up to steaming volcano, Mont Pelee. A pyroclastic flow killed 30,000 people in the coastal city on June 8, 1902. Mont Pelee was 4,500 feet in height, and located about 6 miles to the north (BSLOC 2017 17 63)
