Portable electronic polling booths are loaded into a van at the Dublin County Sheriff's offices in Dublin, from where they will be distributed to schools and halls used for the referendum in the Republic of Ireland on the Treaty of Nice plan for enlarging the European Union. * Thanks to electronic voting, going on in seven of the 42 Irish parliamentary constituencies for the first time in a constitutional nationwide contest, the opening results should all be declared by around 1am on Sunday morning, just a few hours after the polls close.
