The wreckage of a Catalina flying boat lies on the moorland north of Vatersay Bay in the Outer Hebrides. The aircraft crashed on the hillside of Heishavel Beag on 12 May 1944 during a training flight. 3 of the 9 man crew were killed and, as well as the wreckage, there is now a memorial at the site.
