Monte Cassino monastery is on the top of a hill near Rome in Italy. During World War2 a fierce battle was fought here and the monastery was completely destroyed and many hundreds of Allied Soldiers lost their lives fighting to gain the top of the steep sided Hill. After the war it was completely rebuilt and it is a now place of homage to the many who fell in the battle
