There, the German Red Cross (DRK) operates a drinking water treatment plant in cooperation with the Sudanese Red Crescent Movement. The heavy rainfalls and strong winds of 2007 have caused the destruction of 12, 000 households in Kosti, the city on the White Nile. The hight danger of epidemics threatens the lives of 75, 000 people solely living in Kosti. Especially for children under the age of five the dirty drinking water may be fatal. Photo: Peter Steffen
