Netley Abbey was built by Cistercian monks in the 13th century. Following the dissolution of the monasteries by Henry VIII it became a Manor House in the 16th century. It was abandoned in the 18th century and is now cared for English Heritage It is the most complete surviving abbey built by the Cistercian monks in southern England.
