Karfi or Karphi was a Minoan settlement established only 1100 BC at the end of the Minoan era when Dorian tribes invaded Crete and pushed the Minionas out of power. So Karfi was a loast place for refugees high up in the Dikti Mountains at an elevation of around 1100 meter above the sea and just unter the summit of 1117 meter high Karfi summit at the north of the Lasithi plateau in the East of Crete. Karfi oder auch Karphi war eine minoische Siedlung, die um 1100 vor Christus neben einem alten Gipfel-Heiligtum gegründet wurde als dorische Stämme Kreta eroberten. Karfi war wohl eine letzte Zufluchtsstätte für die vertriebenen Minoer. Seine Ruinen liegen auf rund 1100 Metern Höhe direkt unter dem Gipfel des 1117 Meter hohen Karfi-Gipfel in den Dikti-Bergen am Rand der Lasithi-Hochebene. Vermutlich im 8. Jahrhundert verließen die letzen Minoer ihren Zufluchtsort, seither verfällt Karfi.
