Pavement ants (Tetramorium ) are very small (2-4 mm) ants that are typical for dry, sandy areas such as pavements and dry meadows. In spring, the indiviual tribes sometimes fight each other in "ant wars". They are very small, and these photos have been made using a dedicated macro lens, the Canon MP-E 65/2.8.
