This is a common tropical reef species, highly demanded by local fishermen for their dinner plate and therefore threatened by overfishing. THey can grow up to 40 cm in length and usually hide in caves and crevices during daytime. They are nocturnal animals, which prey on smaller arthropods or fish. Ususally lobster live solitary. However, this picture shows several specimen in the background.
