About 200, 000 photos were collected by the Self-Defense Forces and the people used to live there from among rubble in the disaster-stricken areas. Volunteers gathered to Yamamoto-cho, Miyagi from all over Japan to prevent pictures from further deteriorating. The damaged photos were removed the sticking mud and washed carefully. After dried the photographers took digital pictures of the images. The digital images will be repaired by the computers. Volunteers hope to return the photos to their owners as much as possible and restore their memories.
