The start of the Bol d'Or yacht race on lac Leman (Lake Geneva) 2009, with an airship in the sky overhead. The Bol d'Or is an annual race from Geneva, at one end of Lac Leman, to Le Bouveret at the other, and then back again. A total distance of 80 nautical miles. First held on July 18 1939 with twenty six competitors, the race now attracts nearly 600 yachts to the starting line. The current record times for this race were both set in 1994 when a multi-hull completed the course in 5h 2m, and a monohull in 8h 46m.
