During maximum flood tides in Skookumchuck Narrows, the flood current velocity can attain over 16 knots at it forces its way through Sechelt Rapids, creating huge standing waves that are a magnet for thrill-seeking kayak playboaters. The current was running at over 12 knots when this photograph was taken.
