There are numerous gentoo penguin colonies at The Neck. By mid-December most nesting birds have one or two chicks and the parents are busy alternating fishing trips and nesting duties. This chick was about to start pecking at its parent's beak to get a regurgitated feed. The Neck is a popular landing spot for South Atlantic cruises.
