Old Jackson County Courthouse, now a history museum, sits on a knoll in downtown Sylva, NC, not far from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The Balsam Mountains, in the background, are in fall color. This is part of the Blue Ridge zone of the Southern Appalachian Mountains.
