27.10.2014, Graufthal, Grand Est, France - The small village of Graufthal in the valley of interest in the northern Vosges was built in the 12th century around the local Benedictine abbey. Blue painted: The rock houses of Graufthal. Several caves dug into the high sandstone cliffs served as storage for the monks before they were gradually converted into dwellings: the rocks served as the back wall and the rock as the ceiling and floor. Only the facades are built by humans. 00A141027D096CAROEX.JPG
