François Certain de Canrobert (1809-1895) French soldier and Marshal of France. During the Crimean (Russo-Turkish) War (1853-1856) he was twice wounded at the Battle of Alma. On the death of St Arnaud (1854) he assumed command of French forces and was again wounded at Inkerman leading a charge of Zouaves. Engraving.
