Wood gas in the 1940s. The recording of the Swedish feature film Stora skrällen from 1942 where the actors Karin Ekelund and Allan Bohlin take part. A natural feature during these years during the World War II is the Wood gasification unit on the car. Wood gas is a gas that results from the incomplete combustion of wood or coal, and was used to power vehicles. The driver had to fill up the coal himself and make sure that the combustion functioned as it should. Due to a lack of fuel during the Second World War, wood gas played a major role in keeping transport running.
