Greenbelt, United States Of America. 12th July, 2022. Greenbelt, United States of America. 12 July, 2022. The first group of photos captured by the NASA Webb Telescope shows the Southern Ring Nebula in near-infrared light, released from Goddard Space Flight Center July 12, 2022 in Greenbelt, Maryland. This scene was created by a white dwarf star - the remains of a star like our Sun after it shed its outer layers and stopped burning fuel though nuclear fusion. Those outer layers now form the ejected shells all along this view. Credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech/NASA, ESA, CSA, STScI/Alamy Live News
