Harvard Yard Closed. Harvard University has restricted access to Harvard Yard at the center of the University campus in Cambridge, MA, USA. Entrances have been closed to Non-Harvard-ID holders in anticipation of pro-Palestine student demonstrations. A chained and locked small entrance to the central Harvard campus on Quincy Street. After a week the group of students organized by Harvard Out of Occupied Palestine numbers around 100 camped in the Yard. Harvard Out of Occupied Palestine, an organization not recognized by the University, demands include that Harvard call for a cease fire in the war in Gaza, Israel to end the occupation of Palestinian territory and the University divest from Israel’s war in Gaza. Other Institutions in the Boston area that have ongoing protest encampments include Emerson College, Northeastern University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology in solidarity with protests at Columbia University in New York City and a growing number of campuses across the United States. Harvard has announced that yard will remain closed to Non-Harvard-ID holders indefinitely due to the pro-Palestine encampment in Harvard yard.
