HMP Weare, the first prison ship since Victorian times, in Portland harbour, Dorset today (Wednesday) - the day that saw the arrival of the first inmates. From early morning the men, all low security category D inmates, were taken by buses to Weymouth from neighbouring jails. Twenty-one were expected to spend the night moored off the Dorset coast aboard the ship. At full capacity, prisoners will out number the 60-strong staff by almost three to one.
